THE JOB SHADOWERS

Robby

Favorite

The best Job shadow had to be going off campus to the Birds Treatment And Learning Center.  This shadow was especially fun due to my interest in falconry and reasonable background on birds of prey.

Least

SPCA seemed like the least productive job shadow out of all of the shadows we went to. Why? Well for multiple reasons, but before I get started I want to point out that I had not been included in the decision to go to the SPCA. I was surprised when I had found that plans had already been made to go to a thrift store. Before my first example I want to point out the fact that when I think of a job shadow I think that the point is to go and experience a day in the life of a job I am interested in, and I honestly have no interest in working in a thrift store. Reason number two the lady who was supposed to tour us through the building left ten minutes before we arrived to where we were thrown through another loop. For my final example I would like to point out that the job shadow lasted only twenty five minutes and all of the information we received could of easily been found on their website. So we ended up with not enough information to even write a paper on the job shadow. So in my perspective the job shadow to the SPCA was a total bust.

While our group project was very fun and productive  we did have times where the fun over took the productive. Staying focused is one big concern with our group, but if we can stay focused we can get quite a bit done. We also ran into an issue with two of our job shadows where they were planned without the consent of the whole group.

My favorite job shadow was the preforming art center because instead of just watching how things run, you got to experience first had how to get the production in action.

Least

My least favorite job shadow was the SPCA. The reason i didn't like this shadow is because the volunteers didn't seem prepared for a group of kids to come see how things work. We weren't there for more than thirty minutes before we were done interviewing and looking around the thrift shop and the vets office.

Our project group was fortunate to have students who know and get along with each other. Although there where ups and downs to the situation and we got distracted at times, we were comfortable asking each other questions and explaining why we didn't like each others work.  Being in this group was a great, positive experience and we all became better workers and better friends.

Favorite

My favorite job shadow was Birds TLC. I enjoyed seeing all of the different types of birds, and their individual stories of how they got saved. My favorite would have been the PAC Job Shadow based on what I've heard, but unfortunatley I couldn't make it.

Least

My least favorite job shadow was the SPCA tour of their thrift shop, because our person we were shadowing bailed on us, and there wasn't that much information to learn.

At times, our group was distracted because we get along too well with each other. The group was overall fun to work with, and we all understood and worked well with each other.

Favorite

Overall my favorite job shadow was birds TLC, I really enjoyed this job shadow because I have a passion for  birds. My favorite part about it was the birds of course, but also the volunteers were extremely friendly and informative.

Least

My least favorite was the SPCA just because there was not very much going on.

Our project group was fun loving, energetic, enthusiastic, and we got along well. Additionally, the group was excited to go on most of the job shadows. Moreover our project ran fairly smoothly and the leadership was top notch.

Favorite

My favorite job shadow was at the PAC, mainly because we actually got to help out instead of just watching everyone else do their jobs, and they were all friendly there. I also was helped break out of a "fear" shell I had of yelling out at people and telling them what to do, especially because they were adults.

Least

My least favorite was the ASPCA, because it didn't really even work out. The lady we set it up with wasn't there like she said she'd be, and a random lady had to jump in and didn't know how to help us, and we learned so little about that job that we didn't even get to write a reflection about it.

Overall, our group was pretty good. There were times when we all got distracted, and weren't totally focused on getting things done on time, but in the end, it all got done. Many times, if I wasnt having such a good day, my project group cheered me up and it was always full of laughs.
